The French Legation Museum is the site of the oldest wood-framed structure in Austin, Texas. The beautiful 2.5 acres of lawn and gardens overlook downtown Austin and offer a beautiful historic outdoor venue space for your next special event.

We are pleased to offer rental of the French Legation Museum Park for wedding receptions, corporate meetings, luncheons, and other special events. The Park can accommodate up to 2,000 people.

Evening rental of the French Legation Museum Park gives the Rental Client exclusive use of the Park after 5:00 pm.  There are several options for set-up on the grounds.

Northwest Lawn – This location overlooks downtown Austin and is close to the parking lot and on-site restroom facility. It can accommodate up to 200 guests and a 40′ x 80′ tent.

Front Lawn – This location is in front of the 1841 French Legation House. It can accommodate up to 160 guests and a 40′ x 40′ tent.  It is also a beautiful location for Ceremony seating up to 171 guests. Ceremony would take place on the veranda of the French Legation.

Lower East Lawn – This location is also known as the Sunken Lawn.  It is the largest of the lawns in the French Legation Museum Park. It is a great location for outdoor concerts and large special events.

Lower Mall – This location is near the lower gate entrance off of San Marcos St. It is ideal for Ceremony set-up and can accommodate up to 294 seated guests and a 30′ x 80′ tent.

The French Legation Museum is available for outdoor events Monday – Sunday. Please contact us to discuss your event timeline. Wedding events may only be held as evening rentals. Regular Museum hours are Tuesday – Sunday from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. All parties must vacate the French Legation Museum by 11:00 p.m.
