	greats like Charles Thibodeaux of Austin Cajun Aces and Pete Schwartz\, for
	mer member of Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys. They have entertained at 
	popular places in Austin like The Evangeline CafÃ©\, The Hole in the Wall\,

	11 to explore the history of Austin and Texas. Session 1: June 18-22\, 2012
	 Arts and Culture (9-11 year olds) During Session 1\, students will be intr
	oduced to Austin arts and culture through time. Activities will focus on pa
	inting\, music\, fashion\, etiquette\, and other aspects of early Austin so
	ciety. Participants will enjoy special visits to the Blanton Museum of Art 
	and the Texas Music Museum\, and the week will culminate with a student org
	anized art exhibit for guardians and friends. Session 2: June 25-29\, 2012 
	Travel\, Troubles\, and Tasks (9-11 year olds) During Session 2\, participa
	nts will learn about daily life in Austin from 1840-1860. We will discuss t
	ravel\, from horses and carriages to steam boats and the railroad\, and all
	 of the daily tasks\, from gardening to building homes\, needed to survive 
	on the western frontier. Students will have the opportunity to participate 
	in a mock archeological dig\, build their own miniature log cabins and boat
	s\, and do a bit of gardening. Special excursions to local farms and the Su
	sanna Dickinson House will highlight the week. Session 3: July 9-13\, 2012
