Reconstructed Kitchen

Several basic kitchen structures were built behind the house between 1840 and 1880. In 1880 a fire burned the last detached kitchen, and a more modern kitchen and water closet was added to the back of the house. Extensive archaeological excavations were executed before a new kitchen was built in the 1960s, uncovering exciting evidence that details the lives of the residents of the property. Many of these artifacts are on view at the museum.
